History of Lemoenkloof

Dating back to the early 1800s, the Lemoenkloof homestead in Paarl stands as a cherished National Monument, steeped in history and charm.

Originally constructed in the timeless Cape Dutch architectural style, remnants of its heritage still grace the property today. Within the confines of the homestead, the lounge and honeymoon suite boast original stinkwood beams and yellowwood ceilings, preserving the elegance of yesteryears.

Step into the cosy dining room, where the flickering flames of a traditional fireplace (“vuurherd”) beckon. Opening onto a delicately secluded sun patio, this space invites guests to indulge in moments of relaxation and reflection.

During the early 1900s, the house underwent a transformation, receiving a Victorian Facade that adds to its allure. Today, this historical facade is complemented by an indigenous semi-formal garden, adding a touch of natural splendour to the surroundings. Amidst the large, embracing trees and meticulously sculpted gardens, guests are enveloped in an ambiance of tranquillity and comfort, where the echoes of the past blend seamlessly with the present.

Best Kept Secret

Had the most amazing vacation stay this December 2022 till January 2023 at Lemoenkloof in Paarl. This Gem of a venue catered for all our needs. We where a large family group of 22 people and the accommodation and service was beyond our expectations. From the day we arrived to the day we left, the service provided was exceptional. The Manager Adrian, to the service staff Maggie and Kathy as well as the rest of the staff catered to our every need on a daily basis. Their level of service was exceptional. The location was perfect to Franschoek and Stellenbosch, allowing our daily access to some of the best vineyards and restaurants in these areas. As well as in Paarl. The rooms where fantastic and so very clean. Our rooms where cleaned on a daily basis with the option for our personal laundry to be done. The common areas allowed us to spend time together in an open space in a beautifully kept environment. The daily breakfast was an absolute treat and was part of the accommodation. The quality of the venue, food and service at Lemoenkloof and especially for 22 people, really made my stay most enjoyable, sometimes feeling a home away from home. We could not thank the team enough at Lemoenkloof l, but can definitely recommend a stay. You will be guaranteed a fantastic experience.
